SUMMARY:
This position provides overall leadership to a Division of a major company with worldwide sales, manufacturing/fabrication and distribution of Optical Components. This position has responsibility for consistently delivering profit and loss expectations. It develops the fundamental strategy, basic goals, operating plans, and policies for the Division, and leads, directs and coordinates the activities of each site, department and function to achieve planned revenue, cash flow, and other business objectives. The General Manager assures the organization is motivated and capable, that the values of the corporation are upheld, growth strategies and plans for the Division are met and sets proper direction for meeting the needs and serving all customers and constituencies of the Division.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the Division's Worldwide Operations / Manufacturing
• Responsible for the Division's Business Development, Strategic Planning, Marketing & Sales
• Delivers Financial Results
• Directs Engineering & New Product Development activities
• Directs, Enables and Champions the Division's Quality Programs

ACCOUNTABILITY:
• Responsible for the Division sales and annual growth.
• The Division General Manager has the responsibility for the following functions, departments and sites: USA: Including Sales and Marketing, Optical Fabrication, Coating, Diamond Turning, Quality Assurance, Corporate Engineering, Components & Systems, Production Inventory Control, Divisional Accounting, IS, HR, EH&S, etc. and Corporate Export Control. Asia: All functions / all departments. Worldwide: All Sales and Marketing offices.

ORGANIZATIONAL SIZE:
• Direct Reports: 8 to 12
• Indirect Reports: 800 to 1,000 Worldwide Employees
 
Skill Sets:
Education: BS or MS Engineering, Optics, Physics, Materials and MBA highly desired

Experience:
• Ten to Fifteen or more years experience in progressively more responsible management positions in a manufacturing company.
• Five years experience as a General Manager of a small to medium-sized profitable division of a corporation or standalone business.
• Must have experience in the fabrication of Optical Components.
• Must have significant management experience of a sizable organization.
• Experience in Asia with manufacturing desired.

Special Abilities:
• Strong organization, technical, human resource management, planning, customer, change leadership, influencing and results oriented skills.
• Proven ability to attract, develop, retain, lead and motivate people.
• Experience directing offshore manufacturing facilities.
• International Sales experience/exposure; Understands other cultures and their sales and business norms.
